ABOUT

Luke Mombrea is a London-based composer originally from Oakland, California. His work spans many different mediums including concert works, dance performances, art installations and scores for film and television. Luke’s music draws from a wide range of influences including folk, ambient and spectral music.

His concert music has been performed internationally, including performances with players from the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra. His new work, titled Black Gold, for chamber ensemble and electronics, was recently premiered by the London Symphony Orchestra in May 2024.

Luke is also an active orchestrator, providing orchestration for the most recent seasons of Endeavour and Grace on ITV as well as the BAFTA nominated Rose: Signs for Change, a BBC One documentary. His orchestrations have been recorded at Abbey Road, AIR and Angel Studios in London. Luke has also provided music preparation for large scale projects such as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Emancipation and Silo.

He also contributes orchestration and additional music for Seiji Hotta, a Grammy-nominated composer best known for his collaborations with Platinum Games, a studio whose work includes Neir Automata, Bayonetta & Final Fantasy XVI.

Luke has scored numerous award-winning films including Juliet, a film that was screened at the Cannes Film Festival and Game Day, a feature film which can be found on Amazon Prime. He recently completed the score for the HBO development pilot Point Unknown.

Luke graduated with distinction from the Royal College of Music, London with a Master of Music in Composition.
